Best Glass Baby Feeding Bottles

With so many bottles on the market today it can be hard to choose. With all of the talk about unsafe plastics many moms want to use glass bottles, which make milk storage to feeding very easy. While glass bottles are heavier than plastic bottles they are easier to clean, super durable and all those recommended here are made from tempered glass making them harder to break. We have dropped many and have never had one break!

Are Glass Bottles Better than Plastic Bottles?

It’s hard to say as the effects of plastic are still debated. The FDA banned BPA in baby bottles in 2012 so none of the plastic bottles manufactured by American companies today have this chemical in them. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics cautions that heat can cause plastics to leak chemicals into foods and recommends avoiding microwaving plastics and putting them in the dishwasher. For peace of mind and ease of use, many parents are opting for glass bottles.

Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle

This bottle is the best glass baby bottle in our opinion. The soft nipple and wide shape is designed to mimic the feed of the breast for baby and promote a natural latch similar to the breast. The bottles themselves are thermal shock resistant, meaning they can go from the fridge to being heated without the risk of breakage and can be sterilized safely in boiling water. The wide bottle neck and few parts also makes them very easy to clean.

My favorite accessory is the Sealing Disc caps which converted my avent bottles into storage containers that allowed me to store and feed my milk in the same container. I just had to take one of these bottles from the fridge, warm the milk, and change out the sealing disc with a nipple when ready to feed baby.

Dr. Brown’s Options+ Wide-Neck Glass Baby Bottles

This is a great option for moms who want to use Dr. Brown’s anti-colic vent system in a glass bottle. Note that this is a newly designed natural nipple that has a breast-like shape for a proper latch and more natural bottle feeding experience. This bottle allows the vent to be removed as baby’s feeding becomes more developed and they may not need it. Dr. Brown’s bottles have more parts to clean than the other bottles recommended here, but parents who like this bottle don’t seem to mind.

Evenflo Feeding Classic Glass Twist Bottles

This is a great option for those on a budget. The sturdy tempered glass and unique twist shape makes them easy to hold and safe.

Lifefactory Baby Bottles with Silicone Sleeves

Another favorite with parents and babies is the Lifefactory Glass Bottle. This bottle has a nice look and convenient grippy surface with the attached colorful silicone sleeve. The thermal shock resistant borosilicate glass allows these bottles to transition safely from freezer to boiling water like the Avent bottles. You can also purchase bottle caps for milk storage and sippy caps to extend the use of these bottles as baby grows.
